About Jonathan E. Dowell
Dr. Jonathan Dowell specializes in thoracic malignancies, including non-small cell and small cell lung cancers, mesothelioma, and thymoma. He is an Active investigator in the clinical research program for these cancers at UT Southwestern.
Dr. Dowell is committed to educating patients and their families about their illness and devoted to medical education. He was named a Super Doctor by Texas Monthly in 2018. He is a Program Director of the Hematology Oncology Fellowship Program.
Dr. Dowell completed medical school education at University of Chicago and internal medicine training at UT Southwestern. After, he pursued fellowship in Hematology and Oncology at Vanderbilt University with mentorship in thoracic malignancies. Then, he returned to UT Southwestern as faculty member. His honors and awards include: D Magazine Best Doctor 2020-2022, Internal Medicine Core Clerkship Teaching Award 2012, Eugene P. Frenkel Outstanding Teaching Award 2010, ASCO 2000 Merit Award, and Vanderbilt Hematology/Oncology 1998 Fellow Award.
