About Vadim Gushchin
Dr. Vadim Gushchin is a highly skilled surgical oncologist at Mercy Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland, where he holds the position of Director of the HIPEC Program and specializes in the treatment of complex cancers. He has earned a reputation as a "Top Doctor" in Surgical Oncology among his peers and is an expert in the use of HIPEC, a technique that delivers high doses of heated chemotherapy directly to abdominal organs to destroy cancer cells that may remain after the surgical removal of visible tumors.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Gushchin is committed to advancing oncology care and education on a national and international level. He is the head of Mercy's Surgical Oncology Fellowship Program and the Surgical Oncology continuing medical education program, and has played a key role in establishing treatment centers for peritoneal surface malignancies in other parts of the world.
Dr. Gushchin also leads Mercy's Melanoma and Skin Cancer Center and Gastrointestinal Oncology program, and is an expert in the Isolated Limb Infusion technique, which aims to preserve limbs affected by skin cancer. Dr. Gushchin and his surgical oncology team at Mercy Medical Center's Main Campus in Baltimore provide services such as pre- and post-surgical office visits at the Community Physician Sites around the Baltimore beltway.
Dr. Gushchin has completed a Fellowship at Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo, New York, as well as residencies at Moscow Hospital in Russia, The Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, and The Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C. He received his Medical Degree from Russian State Medical University in Moscow, Russia.
He is a member of several professional organizations, including the American College of Surgeons, Society of Laparoscopic Surgeons, Society for Surgery of the Alimentary Tract, Association for Academic Surgery, and North American Neuroendocrine Tumor Society (NANETS).
