Benjamin R. Tan, Jr., MD is an Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine, Oncology Division, with a specialization in Medical Oncology. He has clinical interests in upper and lower gastrointestinal oncology. He received his BS in Biology (cum laude) from the University of the Philippines in Manila in 1985, and his MD from the University of the Philippines College of Medicine in Manila in 1989.

He completed his post-graduate training with a rotating internship in Philippine General Hospital in Manila from 1989-1990, internship in Internal Medicine at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore in Baltimore, MD from 1991-1992, residency in Internal Medicine at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore from 1992-1994, fellowship in Hematology and Oncology at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, MO from 1994-1997 and Clinical Research Fellowship at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, MO from 1997-1998.
