About Nestor Villamizar
Dr. Nestor Ricardo Villamizar is a highly skilled thoracic surgeon who specializes in the treatment of all diseases and conditions of the chest. He is experienced in performing advanced surgical procedures such as robotic-assisted minimally invasive thoracoscopic lung, esophageal, and mediastinal resections.
Dr. Villamizar is well-versed in the latest treatment modalities and offers a range of therapies for locally advanced lung cancer, mesothelioma, mediastinal tumors, chest wall tumors, and esophageal cancer. He also has expertise in treating benign esophageal conditions such as gastroesophageal reflux, achalasia, esophageal diverticulum, paraesophageal hernia, and hiatal hernia.
Additionally, he is proficient in performing robotic-assisted total thymectomy for myasthenia gravis and complex airway reconstruction for tracheal stenosis, tracheoesophageal fistula, and tracheobronchomalacia.
Dr. Villamizar completed his medical education at Pontificia Universidad Javeriana Facultad de Medicina and completed his residency in General Surgery at Duke University Medical Center. He later completed a fellowship in Cardiothoracic Surgery at Brigham & Women's Hospital.
