About Shanda H. Blackmon
Dr. Shanda H. Blackmon is a thoracic surgeon with a special interest in minimally invasive surgery and innovation. She is currently a Professor and Consultant at Mayo Clinic in the Division of Thoracic Surgery, where she leads the development of surgical treatments for patients with esophageal cancer, achalasia, and mesothelioma, and is a principal investigator or co-investigator on several clinical trials.
Dr. Blackmon is also an expert in 3D printing and building prototypes for complex thoracic resections, as well as holding a patent for a novel esophageal anastomotic device and having developed an app as a virtual patient management platform for post esophageal reconstruction patients. She is Board-Certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery.
